Book your consultation appointment today!
Book your appointment with Dr. DeMarco to discuss your concerns. Consultations are $65 per pet and paid at the time of scheduling. Consultations are limited to veterinary dental health and those things related to a possible procedure.
All consultations will be at Branmar Veterinary Hospital
1610 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809
How does this work?
Step 1: You or your veterinarian feels you pet needs to have the teeth cleaned
Maybe there is a smell in the mouth? Maybe your cat can’t eat hard food anymore? Maybe there is a change in the color of the teeth. Regardless of the issue, either you or your vet feels a dental cleaning is needed. This is step one
Step 2: Your veterinarian schedules a procedure with us. They may run bloodwork as well
As only veterinarians know what is really required and needed for a procedure, we leave the scheduling up to them. Each animal needs to have bloodwork done (Chemistry, CBC and Heartworm testing for dogs) within 30 days of the procedure. If you do not have a vet, Dr. DeMarco will let you know what options we have before the procedure.

Step 2: You schedule a consultation appointment with us
If you choose, you can book a consultation appointment with us so Dr. DeMarco can talk with you about your needs and look at your pet’s mouth. We can talk about your bloodwork needs and how we can accomplish this if it has not been done in the past 30 days.
Step 3: We will provide an estimate for the procedure
Regardless if this comes from your vet or through a consultation appointment, we will provide you with a custom estimate for the procedure. This is an UP FRONT approach meaning what we estimate is what you will pay.
Step 4: Our DVDP team will complete the scheduling process
As DVDP travels to veterinary hospitals with our staff and equipment, and last minute cancellations create a unique problem for our practice, we take a $200 Nonrefundable Deposit to hold and schedule your appointment spot. Once this is received, this secures your appointment time. We will discuss what will happen in the procedure, what to expect on the day of surgery and how we accept payment.
Step 6: Day of Surgery
You and your pet will come to the hospital where the procedure is scheduled. Your pet will stay with us throughout the day. We will be in close contact via phone or text (of your choosing). After the procedure we will follow up, go through discharge instructions and make sure you are comfortable with what to expect for the next few days. Most pets will be discharged between 3-6pm in the evening but that is dependent on the hours of that hospital. We will follow up with you in the days to come just to make sure everything is going as expected.

FAQs
I have heard about “anesthesia free dentistry”-would you do the procedure without anesthesia?
Because we both want the same thing for your pets-absolutely NOT. Anesthesia free dentistry addresses the part of the tooth we can see but IGNORES the part we cannot see (the root of the tooth). It can make dental disease worse in the longrun and is not a healthy choice for pets.

I don’t have a vet, but I know my pet needs a dental cleaning
No problem! You can choose an easy consultation appointment as the first step. (see above to schedule)
My Veterinarian recommended a dental cleaning but they did not mention your practice as an option. Can I still use you?
YES! Reach out to DVDP using the “contact us” link below. Include information about your pet, their needs and the veterinary hospital you work with. We can contact the hospital directly to get the information we need (if you wish) or we can contact you directly.
What will happen on the day of surgery?
Each pet is monitored closely while under anesthesia. Your pet will have a dedicated member of the staff through the whole procedure, and also watched closely with advanced monitoring to help make proactive choices all along the way.
DVDP works as a team. The veterinarians are present and active through the entire procedure helping to monitor anesthesia, evaluate the dental x-rays, determine the treatment plan for each pet and perform any and all extractions and root work.
If needed we will discuss the findings during the procedure in case changes could be considered such as a referral to a specialist for a root canal to save a fractured tooth.
If your pet has to have excessive dental work that requires additional overnight pain medications and monitoring, we work with local emergency hospitals to continue care if needed.
Are Dental x-rays always necessary?
YES! A large part of the tooth lives under the gumline, so x-rays are standard of care for every dental procedure. We need to see the full story before we can make a decision if the teeth and gums are healthy.

Is anesthesia safe for my pet?
It’s always scary to think about anesthesia. It would be easy to say “I don’t want to put them through it, let’s just forget the dental”. But anesthesia today has advanced to a place where it is controlled and careful. So what do we do to help make sure things go well?
Each pet will get an exam to look for problems like heart murmurs, abnormal breathing or other concerns
Each pet will have bloodwork performed prior to the procedure to evaluate the internal organs for problems
During anesthesia, they are monitored by advanced machinery to alarm the staff about concerns, but they are also monitored by the staff-every step-to try and be as proactive as possible
After anesthesia a member of the DVDP team is with them to make sure they are waking up well, their temperature is normal and they are recovering smoothly.

Up Front Pricing & Plans
What we quote is what you pay
Each pet will be evaluated to determine the most comprehensive and honest plan to make sure your pet receives all they need.
-
Your pet will need an exam with a veterinarian. This vet will send DVDP the records which explain about their overall health and concerns. They will also send DVDP pictures of the mouth so we can help determine the best estimate for care.
-
Each pet will need bloodwork to make sure they are healthy enough for the procedure. This can be done by your regular vet and needs to be done no more than 30 days before the scheduled dental procedure. If your veterinarian determines additional diagnostics this will be discussed before the procedure
-
Once DVDP evaluates the records, pictures and bloodwork, we will provide you with an estimate for the cost of the procedure. We work on a tiered level of estimates but the estimate you receive is what you will pay. The ONLY exception to this is if we find something very out of the ordinary such as cancer or your pet has an unforseen problem during anesthesia. Estimates for our basic cleanings and extractions start at $699. This includes the hospital stay, full anesthsia, dental x-rays and cleanings.
